Basically, Best Buy partnered with a few manufacturers to address the most common complaints that customers had with laptops in an attempt to create a better product. An exhaustive survey was done and some of the top issues were things like battery life, backlit keyboards, preloaded junkware, and the manufacturers warranty. Our store setup this laptop a few days ago and I was surprised to boot it up and only see 4 icons on the desktop. Sure there's still trialware on there but not as much as what you'll usually find. "Blue Label" laptops come with backlit keyboards, a 2 year manufacturers warranty, and about a 4 hour batter life. That's where the high price point comes from.

And yes, the second we unboxed the Toshiba, I thought "Mac Pro" rip off case.

adam

Comments on Toshiba's MacBook Pro-esque Satellite E105 arrives at Best Buy

Interesting. They have to be seen in person, but the surface there is pretty much seamless. The touch pad is built straight in to the case without a gap, and in a lot of them (U400 and U405, for example) they have the speakers and keyboard area attached in the same sort of way. The end result is wonderful to work with because it doesn't have endless gaps to catch / store horrible particles of stuff.

Mr. Picklesworth

Comments on Toshiba's MacBook Pro-esque Satellite E105 arrives at Best Buy

Why did so many people freak out that this was being compared to a MBP... too many mac owners furious that something could come even close to how their glorious laptop looks?
