Nex-Tech / Redline bringing WiMAX to Kansas

While Sprint's XOHM network is sticking to the bustling metropolises of the US, Redline is looking to bring the wonders of 4G to those sitting in rural America. Granted, this here deployment isn't the first we've seen in a less-than-dense locale, but thanks to its RedMAX infrastructure products and Nex-Tech's desire to spread the love, a number of cities in the Sunflower State are about to get blanketed with WiMAX. More specifically, we're told that Hays (see above) and Great Bend will get covered by next month, but we're left to assume, er, hope that neighboring towns will fall under the umbrella in due time.

Sweet!! I have lived in Kansas all my life, so i've gotten used to waiting till last (or nearly so) till we get the latest high speed internet as well as phone lines. It's nice to see us being (one of) the early adopters for once.

Yea Embarq's data is in Kansas. Embarq and Sprint also have their world headquarters here in Kansas. Both are in Overland Park, Kansas. And Missouri sucks i dunno why Biff would want to leave OP and drive 10 min for that crap hole we call Missouri!

Fair enough. But at least you agree a lot of the fun stuff is in Missouri. These Kansas people think they have everything, but they all run to Missouri to have fun.

Hell, you can't even buy real beer, wine, or liquor in the grocery stores in Kansas. Only 3.2% beer. Blah.

There ain't shit to do in Kansas. All you can do is hang with your friends, hit up AMC Studio 30 for a movie, and maybe go somewhere to catch a bite.

All the clubs and stuff are in Westport and at the KC Power and Light District. Shows are at Sprint Center, sports are at Arrowhead and Kaufman.

So, everything fun is in Missouri.

I live in Kansas (Lenexa) and I agree Kansas blows.

i still find it funny that people think kansas is just a bunch of dirt and flat land. They fail to realize as jay said that embarq and sprint world headquarters are here. Kansas city is one of the bigger cities in the country. sure if you go out west toward colorado it gets a bit more sparse but for the most part kansas city is no different then other major cities, crime, skyscrapers and all. though for some reason we tend to attract more mutant fat bitches then the beach laden states.

You can't forget that Garmin's US head quarters are in the Overland Park/Lenexa Area, can't quite remember where for sure though.... but glad to see that is happening in Kansas, wish it would happen in Manhattan or OP though.... I visit those places more often. But I live 3 miles north of the state line in the good life of Nebraska, and yes Kansas is our Mexico!

Well at first I wondered why they wouldnt offer this in wichita and then i realized that they would be fighting an uphill battle with whatever they offered. I mean I just saw that even cricket is advertising their own mobile broadband service for cheap and if your just wanting internet for the phone you may as well go with cox and get the best connection for the best price.

why does everyone bash on Kansas...just because people don't think of us when it comes to technology doesn't mean we are behind the times...actually quicker to receive orders from Cupertino and Redmond here than it is the east coast anyway...just because you live in a well known city doesn't mean you're intelligent...i'd take midwest kids over coastal kids any day of the week...they at least know what work ethic is...

Actually, most of the US doesn't realise that Kansas has some of the highest internet speeds in the US, and we also have some of the best uncapped ISPs. This is average of course. They also don't realise that 90% of farmers are just as technological as "city folks", I've seen more farmers with smart-phones that are better at using them and managing stocks then them smart-city-boys. They'd be amazed at some of the rigs I've worked on for farmers. A few of whom play MMOs too because their kids do. On average 1/5 city kids have a HD Widescreen, on average 3/5 farmers have a brand-new HD Widescreen (guesstimate based on what I've seen.) Just because Kansas as the biggest meat packing plants and most wheat doesn't mean we don't have tons of technology.

I am a former resident of Pottsville, Arkansas (conveniently located on I-40, halfway between NY and L.A.!), and I enjoyed every minute of my time there.
