The jerk adults who buy up all the hot toys before Christmas are on the same level as people who steal candy from babies. Some kid is saving up his allowance to get this toy, and won't be able to get one because of people who snap them up JUST to resell them. It's about the most unethical thing an adult can do during the holiday season.

If you have two kids, buy two Elmo dolls. Don't buy six with the intention of holding four of them for ransom on eBay. That's just slimy, low, and morally reprehensible.

Frankly, I'd like to see a holiday anti-profiteering law that forbids the resale of toys (that is: anything specifically marketed to children) for any more than retail price from October 1st through January 30th. Price gouging laws exist for gas stations and retail stores, so why shouldn't we enact laws to prevent people from artificially driving the price of an Elmo toy to 300% of retail value? It's not "supply and demand" when a FEW people are buying all the supply, artificially affecting the demand.

It takes a particularly selfish, pathetic person to ruin some kid's Christmas this way. 3. Who creates this type of demand? If they simply manufacture enough of them, there wouldn't be any incentive for profiteers to scoop them up
4. It's really not that serious. I can understand wanting to give your kids what they like, but you should also let your kids know that they cannot always get what they want in life. It's a life lesson worth teaching sometimes. Trust me, the kids will be just fine whether they get their precious Elmo or not. Seems like you would need the therapy more than they would.

As long as the toys companies keep producing artificial shortages for their products why shouldn't I be allowed to make money on it. Trust me - it's not just a FEW people buying these things up. You should have seen the market for Wii's last year. Ebay had literally thousands of them and they were all sold I am sure.

If parents would learn to tell their kids NO, then it would not be an issue. Sure every parent wants to be the hero and get little Johhny that hot new toy but not everyone can afford to do that. I highly doubt that some 2 year old is going to have enough money to buy one of these - even at retail. And just so you know, I am the father of triplets and I know what it means to say no. I hate dealing with the whining and crying but you simply cannot fold every time your child has a tantrum.

Every time you slap a law on something you are actually taking away a person's rights. Government should not be involved in who buys toys, or anything for that matter.
