However I just bought a 400 dollar computer with the following specs: 6200 graphics card, 4gb ram DDR 800, 640GB hard drive, Dual layer rewritable dvd burner, card readers in the front with a 2.8ghz 5600x2.

I'm estimating the following for cost:
Ram: 70 dollars, no rebate.
Hard drive: 75
Case 60 at least
Graphics card: 30
Motherboard: 75
Processor 85
Card reader 25
Dual layer rewritable DVD drive: 30
PSU: 30
Cost: 480. Don't forget shipping costs and waiting around. At the store prices are usually even higher than newegg.com. Only if you're building a computer designed for games does it actually make a difference. I am astonished at what a 400 dollar PC can do now a days. In general it seems hardware has gotten to be better value, you can now play almost all games at acceptable resolutions with a 4850 which can be found for 125 dollars as opposed to 250+.

jon

Comments on Lenovo launches ho hum $399 H210 desktop PC

Yes yes yes we all know you can build good PCs for less money much of time, but NOT in the $400 realm.
