Sony Ericsson's 8-megapixel C905 makes sweet love to the FCC
So what do you think they take pictures of in an FCC lab when they've got an 8-megapixel cameraphone handy? Oh, come on -- you know the technicians lucky enough to fiddle with fresh gadget after delicious, fresh gadget as they burn through specific absorption rate paperwork engage in a little extracurricular activity from time to time. Our guess, honestly, is that they probably snap that scary apparatus that looks like a human head made out of gelatin and MMS it to their daughter with a message like "look what I found in the ditch, honey!" Of course, that prank only works once before little Julie figures out what daddy's up to, then all hell breaks loose as she tips off the gadget blogs that there's an unannounced Sony Ericsson on the way. Yeah, the C905. Thanks, Julie.

Hah, this post is so odd. I love it. I sincerely LOL'd. xD

Truthfully, this post is so odd, and I dislike it. I respectfully disagree with you. I'm an oddball with the best of them, but this just hurt my tiny brain.
Ryan Trevisol @ Oct 14th 2008 6:54PM
Well I think this is a better addition to the Engadget headline repertoire. Better than all those "busts out" and "lets loose" headlines.
High Ranks make you sterile @ Oct 14th 2008 9:01PM
True, but if it weren't for those actually describing the story, you wouldn't be able to decipher this one.
Evan @ Oct 14th 2008 6:06PM
Please, please STOP buying into the megapixel hype! Megapixels mean nothing without better optics (in fact, more megapixels can actually degrade image quality because more of the CMOS sensor's surface area is occupied by transistors). An old 5 megapixel digital SLR will take superior pictures than an 8 megapixel cell phone.
Nytrojen @ Oct 14th 2008 6:09PM
I tip my hat to you sir
Who Knows @ Oct 14th 2008 6:11PM
This argument is getting increasingly old and redundant. It seems like whenever a high mp camera phone is released its immediately shot down by the people who will more than likely never buy it in the first place. Some camera phones are able to take great pictures actually i.e., Nokia N82, MotorZiNE ZN5, Samsung i8510, Nokia N95, Samsung Soul U900, LG KC910, Sony Ericsson K790. Don't shoot the phone down until you've tried it yourself.
spass @ Oct 14th 2008 10:37PM
Are you assuming that optics are not evolving as well? I bet they do, it's just not happening around numbers, so you can't quantify progress by looking at some specs.
Also, it's really odd to compare an SLR with a cellphone camera.
drsilverworm @ Oct 15th 2008 3:15AM
Funny you should mention this, because the sensor HAS improved. It's bigger than the K850's, and even the N96's. One of the largest sensors in a camera phone, ever. Not only that, but the lens have improved - Carl Zeiss, finally.
iEye @ Oct 14th 2008 6:11PM
The year is 2100;
oh look, how quaint, physical push buttons... yes, the humans in that time relied mostly on old technology in mobile devices, all but the few who embraced the touch screen of Apple, that we still use today in a basic form...
High Ranks make you sterile @ Oct 14th 2008 6:17PM
Are you John Connor?
Who Knows @ Oct 14th 2008 6:21PM
That was the quickest low rank I've ever witnessed. But seriously iEye.. what's the point of your existence?
lowdef @ Oct 14th 2008 6:23PM
wow. I like my iphone as much as the next guy, but you must routinely have sex with it or something...im not the first to tell you this im sure but here it goes...APPLE WAS NOT THE FIRST COMPANY WITH A MOTHER FUCKING TOUCH SCREEN. Not only that, but many, many people HATE the iphone's interface for lack of feedback (haptic), lack of physical buttons, lack of copy paste, relative difficulty of texting in portrait, etc... so until they fix all of that, stop your rabid fanboyism.
you make the rest of us look bad.
boolean22 @ Oct 14th 2008 6:32PM
Just saying... I LOVE my Diamond. And payed twice for it than for a carrier's iPhone... but it's mine, and unlocked. And it beats the crap out of Apple's tablet. At least for my usage (PIM, PMP, Browser, Storage)

It's so surprising that this guy hasn't been banned, considering EVERY COMMENT HE MAKES is about how Apple shits rainbows.
Maybe he just gets a kick out of being lowranked?
Maybe he's a masochist?
cj @ Oct 14th 2008 9:26PM
I dunno what your problem is... But I dun get why TouchScreen is such a hype.
I myself have semi touch phone and have used numerous touchscreen phones, but it didn't have the tactile feedback of the REAL buttons.... So I'll take buttons over your dumb iPhone ANY DAY.
And please Apple isn't the only nor the first to embrace touchscreen. So go back to elementary school and use ur iphone that ur rich parents bought you and post stupid comments on Engadget (which is incresing in volumes) all you want, but I'll stick with REAL Buttons.

i groan every time i see your comments iEye.
I LOVE Apple products, i refuse to use Windows, but seriously, enough of the fanboyism. The iPhone is great, but its not for everyone and was never meant to be.
*Happily plays with HTC Touch Cruise*
pechorin @ Oct 15th 2008 4:35AM
i have a sony walkman mp3 with physical push buttons and i like to pause/play song, change song and adjust volume all inside my pocket, even over the cloth. it would be very weird and uncomfortable to have to take it out every time....
oh, sorry, i forgot it, you guys love to take it out.
timothy.brazer @ Oct 14th 2008 6:19PM

PederG @ Oct 14th 2008 6:19PM
impossible to fit those speakers on a 15".. in that case it would have to be a 17" macbook which i doubt..
drumdbeat @ Oct 14th 2008 8:14PM
Incorrect, this is a mobile telephone.
NightBlade @ Oct 14th 2008 6:20PM
OK, that was a reply fail on my behalf.

Sigh im gunna pass on this model i got burned by SE and the K850i trying to run before it could crawl. im looking at an N96 or a INNOV8 this time around.
digitallysick @ Oct 14th 2008 9:22PM
I sold my iphone and got a Nokia N95, the cam is excellent and the videos are great. While on vacation i used it more than my real digital camera. When i tell people the pictures /videos come from my cell phone, they can't believe it.
The N95 has the following
gps
3g
8gb storage
5 megapixel cam
mms
and the list goes on, beat that apple
asg84 @ Oct 15th 2008 12:26AM
yep n95 and n82 are great , no need of carrying a extra digi cam with u
drsilverworm @ Oct 15th 2008 3:16AM
It can also record VGA video, as opposed to Apple's utter lack of video.
Toqeer @ Oct 31st 2008 1:16AM
What a cell hone is this.......!
Its the end buddy, I don't think some one can go ahead from it in camera.
