It was inexpensive, lightweight and while not feature full, it performed adequately, at first.

Then it began having problems, due to what turned out to be a known manufacturing defect. Averatec did not contact me in any way regarding the issue after I registered the laptop, and they did not live up to their warranty. Seven months in on a one year warranty, I required their support for this "known" manufacturing defect. It was either the wrong type of solder, or a substandard solder has been used in the construction of the laptop. The result was overheating, inability to charge the battery, and other issues.

When I contacted Averatec, they insisted I pay $80 for the "repair", pay for shipping, and it would take about 3 weeks, not including ship time to complete. This was for a defect, not just a failed component or end-user error, on a warranty that was supposed to cover defects.

So, I turned to their forums for help and advice, where my non-abusive, cordial requests for assistance, were deleted. And further phone calls to the company didn't get the issue resolved. So I shelved the laptop and later sold it for parts.

I will never again buy Averatec products. They concentrate on looking good, but there was no substance to their support when I needed it.

So as "cool" as their designs may be, buyer beware. Averatec sucks.

iNToIT

Comments on Averatec's 18.4-inch all-in-one PC gets the hands-on treatment

ouch. that makes me seriously reconsider this machine.
