Being an IT geek and gamer, I like having an overpowered 17" laptop. I've carried mine on several trips to our facilities in the Philippines and China, as well as other places, It's heavy, but it doesn't bother me that bad. The Swissgear backpack does help a lot, it's great at offsetting some of the weight. The biggest downside is there are plenty of airports and planes where you can't find a power outlet (or a free one) to keep the beast running more than 45 minutes. On trips with long layovers, I take a 12" with me too. Good new for apple people apple have just sent out emails telling us the mac mini will be upgraded and updated in a pending release.
