Capcom on Talisman cancellation

After quietly canceling the XBLA version of Talisman way back in August, GiantRealm has posted an article detailing what went wrong with the game's development. Adam Boyes, Director of Production at Capcom Entertainment, explains that the problem arose late in development, when the team realized some early decisions weren't panning out. Boyes said the team realized that many gamers wouldn't be wiling to sit down for a 3-5 hour online game and, because the game is turn based, players would literally be doing nothing 80% of the time in a 6 player game. Of course, if you're stuck in a game where no one is using a headset, things get even worse.

Unfortunately, by the time these problems were recognized, the team didn't have enough time or money to fix them. We all know the rest. Still, Boyes says that a Talisman game "will be made" and that Capcom will be more than willing to share its lessons with the creators.
