Plus the halogen bulbs are a sinch to replace, and i managed to get one for $90 (Australian).

brickwood

Comments on Olens Technology adds another projector to endless stream of projectors

Saw this on woot the other day.....Crappy then, crappy now.

Chad

Comments on Olens Technology adds another projector to endless stream of projectors

As the director of equipment for a decent sized Anime convention, one of the primary expenses of my department is purchasing/borrowing/renting projectors for screenings/panels/workshops/etc. And we're still not seeing projectors that meet our requirements in certain cases.

What's missing? Two things.

1) Projectors over 3200 lumens at decent costs
2) HD projectors over 2000 lumens at decent costs

In both cases, it's like an invisible threshold. As soon as you cross it, the prices skyrocket. Need a 4000 lumen projector? Expect to pay two or three TIMES more than a 3200 lumen projector. What an HD projector at 3000 lumen? Expect to pay 4-5x more than a 2000 lumen HD projector.

Right now we're making due primarily with 2200 lumen and 3200 lumen projectors. This is meeting our requirements in many cases (especially as we transition from 2200L to 3200L where possible), but there are a few cases where we would really like brighter projectors. Our 180" screens are using the 3200L units, and brighter projectors would be useful. We're trying out a 200" screen next year, and putting a 3200L unit on that is a bit of a stretch, but it's all we've got.

As for HD, right now, it's just not an option; they just aren't bright enough at decent prices. We're making due with our existing projectors, which are XGA (1024x768), so we get "almost" HD (576p)...

Adam Zey

Comments on Olens Technology adds another projector to endless stream of projectors

At first I thought it had wheels; perhaps a roomba-like projector.

Peter

Comments on Olens Technology adds another projector to endless stream of projectors

Projector?
I 'ardly know 'er!

ED

Comments on Olens Technology adds another projector to endless stream of projectors

wow this thing was for sale on woot the other day

matt
