Heck, the SSDs that come in the Eee are slower.  The thing is though, these probably aren't intended for average Joe desktop consumer.  Seeing that these are industrial spec devices, they most likely have a wider temperature range than your average SSDs - this means they're probably intended for use in embedded systems where a light weight embedded OS will be used with any regular disk writing minimized or eliminated all together.
