If Nokia and HTC don't up their game (and Google, obviously), they will be eaten alive with 2009's iPhone HD and WM7 Tegra phones.

However, let me correct a couple of misunderstandings in your comment:

- "3 billion [iPhone] 3rd party apps" would be about 3000 apps at the latest count
- Symbian (S60) phones have 25000 available 3rd party apps (10.000 Symbian + 15.000 Java-based)
- "pricey" would mean about half the price of the iPhone, not to mention that even the more expensive N-Series phones go for free with 2-year contract, so the expectation is that Nokia 5800 would be available also for free with a contract.

You are still right, that Nokia needs to push forward to be in the race. The iPhone apps on the other hand are -in comparison- top quality, and written specifically for this piece of hardware. Not to mentiona OpenGL support and rendering...

Hardware is pretty solid Nokia and software seems to be above average. But it is the price makes me update my old phone with an unlocked version of this.
