They do it to try to increase sales and profits. If the product is already selling well, there's not a lot of reason to discount it, you'll just reduce your profits. It has nothing to do with having no debt!

Look at the Wii for example. Price cuts below 10% are a mockery of the clientage and one that's not taken in very well to boot. as for the notion of BF discounts, no they don't have to discount anything, just like they don't have to price match. there's no law requiring them to do either or to publicly display that they will price match
