If user dips five fingers in five different colors in the on screen paint palette and draws five lines with five fingers, you get five lines with five colors.<br><br>Multi-user experience: Typical computers accept only one keyboard and a mouse. Microsoft Surface accepts multiple inputs from multiple users. More than one person sitting across the Surface, can do independent work on the same Surface.<br><br>Object recognition: The system can identify physical objects placed on the Surface. It can relate the appropriate software for the appropriate item placed on surface. Get the sport package, it lowers the car 1/4". Get the more powerful engine, the light assembly is silver rather than black. <br><br>Then there is a waiting list for many cars, and they usually are not on the showroom floor. Want an X6? There is a 3 month wait where I live. Want an M5? Wait a year. If you want those cars, you can't just turn around and look at it.<br><br>Then there is the very little-known BMW Individual. Not available in the US (unless you are very close to your dealer) because of various laws, you can have BMW personalize your car in any way you want. An M E86 was never mass produced in Dakkar Yellow (I know of only 3 made in this color - all through Individual). If you want one though, use the Individual program, pay about $10,000 more to have your car shipped from Spartanburg to Germany, painted, then shipped back yellow. You don't want to just pick yellow without knowing exactly what it looks like, and since there are only 3, you just can't turn around and look at it.<br><br>With all the options, dealers cannot have a demo car with every single option for both showroom space and cost reasons. Put a Surface on the showroom floor to let you see how the options effect the look, then drive the one demo model to make sure you like the feel of it.<br><br>When you are paying $50,000-$120,000 or more for a BMW, it is not like picking out a $14,000 Ford Focus. Paying that much, you configure everything the way you want. I don't see anything wrong with it nither with the idea of using it the way BMW is! If someone wants to buy a car they can always test drive the thing, but having the option of seeing your customized car the way you like is best done through a technology device with a screen, and the Surface is a great way to interact with car products in-store.<br><br>Why are you people, including Engadget, acting all wise and smart about it? It is really simple: Look for a car, try it, then use MS Surface to customize it. I don't see a better way to do it right now, or in other words, the surface allows you to decide on spot and finish deal faster than going back home and using some lame flash online app, then photoshoping your brains out just to see how it will look later on.<br><br>People, the least you can say is: Amazing!
