I've had the HD TiVo box for about a month now. I had the DirecTiVo setup for three years. If the HD side works as crappy as the SD side, who really cares? The HDTiVo box seems very buggy to me. The UI is slow, the tuner is slow, and the online content hooks are atrocious. Here's to hoping they fix it with the next release.

kpfeif

Comments on Amazon ready to begin HD streaming to TiVo?

I really wish Tivo's lousy coders would figure out and fix the bugs before they added more features useful to a few. Every day I have to check my To Do list and re-delete programs I'd deleted previously that the miserable thing adds back. These aren't suggestions (which I have turned off) -- they're shows where I have First-Run Only season passes, but the POS puts every single rerun into To Do anyway and adds them back at random times after I delete them the first time. (And yes, the programming info correctly carries the rerun flag. This is strictly a Tivo bug. This happens on every show on which I have First-Run Only set, and only on those shows.)

Bob S.

Comments on Amazon ready to begin HD streaming to TiVo?

Aside from any unknown, but potential hurdles that Sony and Microsoft have in place for writing software for the PS3 and XBox360 respectively, why Amazon has teamed up with TiVo and Blockbuster has entered the set top box hardware market is beyond my comprehension. Given these numbers (http://tvbythenumbers.com/2007/09/11/dvr-installed-base-august-2007/619), TiVo (~2million in USA) has between 5-10% the install base of the PS3 (~17million/~6million in USA) and XBox360 (~22million/~12million in USA) individually, per these numbers (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/PlayStation_3) and (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Xbox_360). Maybe they are simply targeting different consumer bases, but if I were Amazon and Blockbuster, I would be following NetFlix and building native software client applications for the PS3 and XBox360.

BigJimInDC

Comments on Amazon ready to begin HD streaming to TiVo?

You need to study math more. Besides that, I think the amount of people watching TV & Videos on their TiVo is much larger than the number of people regularly watching on their PS3 or XBox.
