You can even see the blank space where it use to be on the PCB. It's probably going to be a while before a new mod chip is released, but having a mod chip is kind of pointless now with the backup loader running pretty much perfectly now with only a few errors. The police can't bust you for possessing a mod chip. Distributing, yes, possessing, not so much. The most amount of trouble you could really get into would be a civil suit with Nintendo. Your situation would be true if the RIAA gets its way, but I digress...<br><br>2. While you can make the argument that just because they are primarily used to play pirated games, I can make the argument that I paid for it so I should be allowed to do with it what I want. This is a similar concept as ripping a CD to my computer. Sure, I could put it on the internet for all to enjoy, but I probably won't so bugger off.<br><br>3. Homebrew: Because not all game developers are in it for money/fame/women. Some just want to make fun games for all.<br><br>4. What bug got up your ass causing you to freak out about piracy? You think it's unreasonable for a company to try to make money off their core unit? Microsoft are only making a loss on 360s because a) the billions they make from their other businesses can subsidise the development of a market they want to lead in and b) they were getting outsold and needed to be more competitive. They're not doing it out of the kindness of their hearts.<br><br>Nintendo can't do this because all they do is make games consoles. If it's selling well without a DVD drive and it's cheaper for consumers - therefore more attractive a proposition - as a result then what else are they realistically going to do? I would like to know, how much money do they spend to stop this? Because they have released a lot of updates and probably put a lot of money into "protecting" the DSi from hackers. Yet, hackers still won, after less than a month. So I ask, why does Nintendo waste our time and their money trying to stop something that can't be stopped? Sure, you need to meet a few conditions first... like having a 3.3 Wii (I think 3.4 works now too), an SD card, and Twilight Princess. After that it's cakewalk.
