Microvision's PicoP-based SHOW WX pocket PJ makes debut
While Microvision isn't new (per se) to the pico projector arena entirely, it certainly lacks the namesake of, say, Dell or Optoma. Of course, it's not letting that fact damper its excitement about the PicoP-based SHOW WX. The pre-production device is being unveiled today at Macworld, and it promises to boast a 25% package-size reduction over the company's own SHOW prototype. The diminutive beamer will eventually arrive with a WVGA native resolution, 16:9 aspect ratio, a battery good for around two hours of usage and a chassis that measures just 4.6- x 2.4- x 0.6-inches. The outfit anticipates that commercial production will get going in Q2, with mass availability ready by 2H 2009; regrettably, pricing still remains a mystery.

The more engadget posts about these, the more I feel like I actually need one.
Boarderwoot @ Jan 5th 2009 12:38PM
I'd have to agree with you on that one. For the life of me I can't figure out what I'd use it for but if theres suddenly a new flooded market, someone must have an answer to that question....(besides projecting fornication in public places anonymously)

You can use it FTW!

WVGA is a little vague. Does this device project 800x480, 848x480, or 854x480?
Tony C @ Jan 14th 2009 11:54AM
852x480
(watch the video, don't read the copy)

I like that these are becoming more popular because we will just find uses for them and hopefully one day we will get a good solid 3-D projector. That would make for a sick cell phone video conference.

a 3d projector... 3M maybe
Unknown @ Jan 25th 2009 6:58PM
A 3-D projector? How would that physically work? The only thing I can think of thus far is that device that forms plasmas in free space with high-powered lasers. Not exactly consumer-safe.

/b/rothers, now we can fap outside...
Oli D @ Jan 5th 2009 1:30PM
When these can get higher than 800x480 i will care, until then, none of these deserve to be part of my projector mod.
Ed @ Jan 5th 2009 5:07PM

PacoBell @ Jan 7th 2009 3:59AM
Well, you don't have to wait, thanks to Ed's link. It's 10 lumens. Judge for yourself if that's good enough for your purposes.
EDH @ Jan 6th 2009 12:21PM
This is going to be revolutionary, and their stock is at $2 right now.
Walkmind @ Jan 14th 2009 7:18AM
Concerning the price, as mentionned in theiR FAQ : "A: Final retail pricing has not been released but is expected to be between $400 - $500 U.S., depending upon final configuration."
kh812000 @ Mar 27th 2009 11:29PM
There are no real "specs" from Ed's link. Its all target specs ie vaporware.
All specifications are targets and subject to change in final production.
