Macworld 2009: Best in Show liveblog

Welcome the Macworld 2009 Best in Show liveblog!

I'll be chronicling what Macworld has deemed its "Best in Show" products. If we haven't already talked with the winners, be assured, we will find them tomorrow!

3:28PM And that's it! I'm going back to the floor! Thanks!

3:27PM Perfect spy cam!

3:27PM eCamm sponsors our Talkcast, so congrats eCamm!

3:26PM 640x480 resolution, so nothing stunning, but very cool

3:26PM Last winner: ECam BT1 - standalone BT webcam. .h264 - $150

3:24PM Faces and Places is seriously cool. The demos are seriously cool, I can't wait to buy it.

3:23PM They didn't want to give Apple an award, but relented because iPhoto '09 is just so cool.

3:23PM Next winner: Apple's iLife '09 (iPhoto)

3:21PM The Sling Player for iPhone will be out by the end of March.

3:19PM Sling Box Pro HD now supports streaming to the Mac and Apple TV.

3:19PM You can watch TV on your iPhone and control your DVR from the iPhone.

3:18PM Next winner: Sling Player Mobile by Sling Media

3:18PM It's a very cool pen that can capture what you write and play it back as audio. It's so cool.

3:17PM Victor discussed it last month: http://www.tuaw.com/2008/12/05/livescribe-and-the-pulse-smartpen-on-the-mac/

3:16PM Next winner: Pulse Smart Pen from Lightscribe!

3:15PM The bad jokes continue. But still, it's Macworld.

3:14PM I remember playing with the first version of Things back in December 2007 as part of the MacUpdate bundle -- it's cool to see how much it has evolved!

3:14PM Things is one of my favorite GTD apps. The 1.0 release is pretty spiffy and the interface is gorgeous. It also integrates really well with the iPhone/iPod touch app.

3:13PM Winner: Cultured Code's Things!

3:13PM Because it is cross-platform, it's great for homes that have Macs and PCs side-by-side.

3:12PM iTunes server, Time Machine backup drive are all features aimed at Mac users.

3:12PM Apparently the Mac support (keep in mind you still need to have a Windows PC to do stuff -- you can't just have an HP Media Server and only Macs (unless you virtualize) is enough to get this the nod.

3:11PM Next winner: The HP Media Server (yes, a PC)

3:11PM Bento integration and enhanced SQL support are two big new features

3:09PM Winner: FileMaker 10! Can you believe this program is now 25 years old?

3:08PM Daylite Touch is getting great, great reviews. The interface is impressive and it'll be out sometime this quarter.

3:07PM We talked to Marketcircle yesterday - http://www.tuaw.com/2009/01/06/tuaw-macworld-video-marketcircle-announces-daylite-touch/

3:07PM Next winner: Market Circle's Daylight Touch!

3:06PM I've used WebEx for years as a writer, because companies love to use it to show off software demos. The iPhone 3G and iPod touch support is great.

3:05PM It has iPod touch and iPhone 3G support in addition to cross-platform support. Web Ex is a great way to do video and conference calls and share a computer screen across users.

3:04PM First winner: WebEx Meeting Center from Cisco

3:04PM About half the products get videos, half not.

3:02PM In December, vendors submit products they will be showing at Macworld. If possible, Macworld looks at the products in advance and then takes a look at products the first two days of the show.

3:01PM Jim and Jason (Editor at Large and Editor of Macworld) are now on stage introducing the Best in Show live. The jokes are not good. But the Macworld guys are good guys.

3:01PM There is just a smattering of applause. No one seems enthused. But still. W00t.

3:00PM Oooh, videos are starting!

2:57PM The music is unfortunate. I have to say. It's like bad calypso.

2:56PM I'm sitting next to WorldofApple.com's Alex Brooks. He's awesome.

2:53PM Fumbling for my other camera battery, but I'm inside the room. Third row, though I could be in the second.

2:46PM People seem to be surprised that we both have a line and that the line isn't longer.
