I've been tempted to pick up a F700BT but some of the reviews portray a nightmare scenario of lockups, interminable boot times, etc. I know the 2.0 update solved some of it, but that the boot times are still there. While I'm not one to be impatient with technology, the tech I put in my cars I want to just work, not require patience.

I've only had a chance to try to play with one in a store, but it was frozen up...not very confidence inspiring.

John

Comments on Pioneer rolls out new in-car lineup: CD players, amps, speakers, oh my!

I've got the F700bt myself (with the 2.0 firmware). It definitely improved over the 1.x. A lot, to the point where I think it's actually a pretty decent unit. They got for dirt cheap on ebay because of the bad press, so you can get yourself a decent gps head unit for around $450.

It does connect to a back up camera.

Patrick

Comments on Pioneer rolls out new in-car lineup: CD players, amps, speakers, oh my!

I love my f90bt after 2.0 all issues have been resolved and it is a champ. Some issues I've seen:

1. When using the HD tuner, you cannot store station name/callsign to an HD Preset button. You get the same "P1/P2/P3...P6" label, regardless of the frequency assigned. Good luck remembering which ones you saved.
2. Lots of the soft buttons throughout the UI have a very short height, especially for presets and back buttons, etc. Personally, I think they need to increase the size by at least 2x so it provides a better target for fingers so you don't have to take your eyes off the road to hit the touchscreen just right. Often times the wrong button gets selected.
3. RDS is not available on the standard FM tuner screen.
4. The wired remote does not support preset up/down, which makes controlling the radios from the steering wheel miserable.
5. The version of iGo 8 that Pioneer used has a bug in the automatic Timezone setting that puts it one hour off. My HU thinks it's in Idaho instead of Oregon when using the GPS to set timezone.
6. No iTunes tagging w/ the HD Tuner, even though they have all the song info.

Geoff

Comments on Pioneer rolls out new in-car lineup: CD players, amps, speakers, oh my!

Ok that's awesome guys... now how's bout you mosey over to the Alpine booth and get some pictures and info on their lineup too. I have this, and with the exception of the VERY poor Bluetooth it is a great unit. I'm surprised that they have not released an update to their so called "Flagship" unit. The 710? Not even close.

Dr.Tek
