All these iPod Connector-centric products although faddishly alluring don't make much sense to me (even though I have one).

As impossible as it seems today, one day the iPod Connector we all know and love is going to go away whether it's by market evolution or by Apple suddenly deciding it isn't REALLY cool anymore—the new iPod Touch and Firewire spring to mind—then that really sweet iPod Connector based device is going to have a rather bitter after taste to it.
