Obviously it doesn't connect to an iPod because the ipod doesn't have bluetooth, and the Touch and iPhone don't have stereo bluetooth headset support. This seems a bit Hokie to me, a lot of BS just to get BT to your ear! Apple, REALLY should have supported A2DP from day 1, most other "smartphones" already had this feature...even a Palm Centro does it very well with a 20.00 add-on (Softick Audio Gateway) , which isn't even available (with our without and add-on) for the iPhone.
