In all seriousness, I don't know why this game has stayed with me for so long (whether nostalgic value, or simply gameplay value) but I've gotta agree with KarlW. I haven't had nearly the experience I had with that game in anything since. In fact, I just recently had my discs resurfaced so that I could play through it all again. As much as I'd care to see a remake, I feel like they'd somehow change things too much in doing so, and that would likely be for the worse. Sure GTA Vice City was insanely good, but once the adrenaline rush of baseball batting civilians wore off, there was no game.

FF7 had some really memorable moments like no other game (I think I can mention Aeris without spoilers, right?). Zelda:OoT is close, but it just didn't have those climatic moments that FF7 did.

FF7's characters were on just the right side of the uncanny valley - despite speaking in text and being made of badly textured cubes and cylinders. I really liked them as I was playing the game.

A PS3 remake would just be awesome.
