First, X-rays =/= radiation from a nuke. It's called the electromagnetic spectrum, man. There are many types of waves out there.

Second, the stuff they wear in hospitals requires doesn't protect you on its own; it requires a sheet of lead to have any sort of effect. You know that giant metal thing they stick on you when you're getting x-rays done? Yeah, that. This article is about clothing that offers that protection without that. I just don't see how particle size could have any effect on Gamma radiation.
