It's way overpriced, unless you're worried about disposing of your lead shields every decade. The website conveniently omits Demron's pb equivalent. However it does show HVL on the Demron gown they show that's comparable to something I wear in fluoro. It's only 130kVp. The HVL for .3 mm of lead is 150kVp. At 6lbs per square foot it's heavier and expensive then a lead gown as well. Don't be that guy that spends a shitload on a gown then doesn't give his techs a bonus. There are many types of waves out there.

Second, the stuff they wear in hospitals requires doesn't protect you on its own; it requires a sheet of lead to have any sort of effect. You know that giant metal thing they stick on you when you're getting x-rays done? Yeah, that. This article is about clothing that offers that protection without that. The problem with this approach is that you are not really that well shielded from electromagnetic radiation such as low-mid energy gammas. There is also lower energy radiation given off by the absorption of higher energy radiation. Normally in gamma shielding applications. the inside of the lead or tungsten shield is lined with a layer of tin (usually .1" thk) and then a final layer of copper (usually .06" thk). These linings stop the lower energy gammas and x-rays that are emitted.

Don't even get me started on neutron radiation...

Ken

Comments on Demron garments resist radiation without overlooking style

Well then when the nukes start dropping and everyone else heads for fallout shelters, you can continue your life as normal, knowing that you're completely impervious to all forms of radiation.
