Jitter city. Jitter city in whatever resolution is still jitter city.

There's a reason all decent camcorders are still built with grips they way they are: so you can hold them steady while panning. Point and shoot cameras can barely be held still enough for a decent macro shot, never mind continuously. DSLR's grips do not meet this requirement either, though they aren't as bad.

Just because technology lets us cram extra features into smaller or different form factors - and for marketing reasons, everybody will - doesn't mean we SHOULD.

Josh Warner

Comments on Nikon D700 gets tweaked to shoot video via live-view

Video is impossible when using a dSLR in the "proper" manor. I can direct my Skype to use the Canon PC 'live-view'. I can also use in the Windows Movie Maker as a video source!

Now that the DSLR can give you a live view I see no reason why it can not record (capture) that video feed that is being displayed on the screen. Nikon does it, but mind you there is a massive interruption if try to take a digital still. For me I would have designed it to take a simple frame shot from the continuously running video (as an option) with absolutely no interruption to the recorded video - yeah it may not be the best quality but good enough and way better than a couple of seconds of blackness in your recorded video.

Jim

Comments on Nikon D700 gets tweaked to shoot video via live-view

Way off topic but so funny.

James

Comments on Nikon D700 gets tweaked to shoot video via live-view

call me when the D3x records video.... and is about $4000 less...

Brian

Comments on Nikon D700 gets tweaked to shoot video via live-view

Why would you want the D3x to do video?
