What's all this then? I like it, but the formatting is a little messed up (at least in IE6).
PS - Don't judge me. I'm unable to use any other browser at work. The computers here are locked down pretty hard.
Break free of the tirrany using portable firefox :)
http://portableapps.com/apps/internet/firefox_portable
Revolt!!! :D (it's what I use at my crazy locked down comp at work, IE6... barf)
There's a good chance removable media would be restricted, too.
of course I ment tyranny... should've looked it up first dammit :p
Its actually just made that way (same in FF 3.1)
@ Kamozaki, true, I got around that by mailing it to my work adress, after zipping, rarring it, encrypt the filenames and put a password on it. Then it was quarantined, but I could still get it :D. Be creative :).
Same here, the formatting in IE7 is horrible. I can't use portable firefox or anything else at work, and removable media is OUT of the question. Good idea, though.
It should be fixed now. It was just this thing with a guy who did this thing ... you know, typical.
Holy cow! You guys' work terminals seem to be more locked down than my college terminals. Removable media, e-mailing unencrypted files to yourself, even uploading vids to Youtube is allowed where I go.
Looks like that's going to change when I get my job though >.>.
@Ven
Well then your IT department failed by allowing executables to be run from unprotected locations, or they did not set up permissions correctly to protected locations (\program files and \windows, by default).
And I'm one of those a-hole nazi sysadmins who locks all this stuff down. Not because of people like you, but because of all your stupid co-workers who open ecard.zip in their e-mail. It's much easier to spend 5 minutes to go into their PC and type in an admin password so they can install a legitimate program than wasting an hour setting up a new PC for them.
I like the roundup!!
Keep this going !!
But exclude it from the RSS feed. I subscribe to get all the content anyway.
I'm already annoyed by the number of "weekly roundup" posts that flood my RSS aggregator every Sunday, I really don't need a daily roundup of stuff I've already read anyway...
I disagree with L, I love the daily roundup in the RSS reader. Engadget has a few too many posts a day for my liking (I prefer it to be around 10-15) and this is a good glance to show me something I overlooked.
Next: get your RSS to work like Lifehackers, where I can subscribe to only the top 5 stories a day. Again, I think 10-15 is the magic number, but I would love to cut out the number of "new Dell monitor" posts from Engadget.
How about a round-up feed?
I know this is off topic, but does anyone know if there are any more details for the Sony Walkman NWZ-X1000 player besides the $399 price for 32gb and the release being sometime in summer?
This is GREAT guys! Good stuff!
No, I didn't miss anything. Thanks for asking.
I second the motion to drop roundups from the RSS feed.
I third it. Or just add a voice. Depends on your point of view.
I'm gonna dissent, I don't like the roundup. :-/
Other news of import? That can't be right
i dont like the roundups all that much...
I like the review, but you guys should have a list of new articles everyday at the end
I like the daily roundup and I subscribe to RSS. How difficult is it to click "delete" if your not interested?
As difficult as an apostrophe, apparently...
MORE USELESS CLUTTER? THIS IS MADNESS!
I'm kind of ambivalent about the daily roundup. I just don't really like it being mixed with all the other articles. Is there a way that this could be posted right above breaking news, or really just somewhere other than among the rest of the articles?
Just an idea.
I remember you guys tried doing this whole daily round-up thing a few months ago, but this one is waayyy better. You should do this everyday. I like how you have the eMobile and eHD articles as well. Nice work.
Gotta say, guys, I'm really digging this roundup thing. I mean, I read just about every article that comes across this blog, but having them all in one convenient little spot is pretty sweet.
I didn't like the roundup at all yesterday, but I'm liking the review of engadget mobile and hd, since I don't read those. I think a condensed version on the would be just as readable, without having a review of previous articles show up on the main feed.
