My Dell laptop has a NEC burner, which required a hacked firmware in order to allow changing the book type for DVD+R media. However, the patching and booktype setting all went off without a hitch, entirely within Linux. And didn't even need to reboot.

One word of warning, if you don't have a full GameCube controller (all I have is a DDR Mario Mix dance mat), you will be unable to play PAL dance games on an NTSC television. The reason is that your dance mat is missing the X, Y, L, and R buttons that the gcloader uses to change video modes, so you can only use autodetect.

Not that I know if PAL games work on an NTSC Wii if you do change the video mode, only that autodetect won't work.

Nevertheless, I'm now happily enjoying DDR Mario Mix.
