I'm sort of getting the feeling that the Window Store will be more of a show case than a place where you actually service and buy products. When you go to the Mac Store, how often do you see people buying things and actually having goods serviced? Rarely, at least where I live. Most people go in there to check out the stuff and play around with it a little. Then if they decide they want it they purchase it at a later day.

The thing is, a hip looking store, where you can try out new technology will prompt people to buy things, apple has demonstrated this, and now microsoft wants to take a bite. I hope the best for microsoft, windows 7 seems to be a major step in the right direction, maybe it'll have the privilege of sharing a hard drive with Arch if the release is a more polished version of the 7000 milestone.

andrew autopsy

Comments on Microsoft gets serious about retail stores with exec hire

"how often do you see people buying things and actually having goods serviced? This is a good time to invest in new businesses if you got the money, as other companies are unlikely to invest in these times of trouble.

I just hope that they will have top notch customer service and a pretty store to walk into! These stores should be concentrated more on demonstration, rather than having a bunch of racks and software boxes hanging from them.

I hate keep having to refer to Apple, but their stores have the best designs ever. They just have a few computers, ipods, and iphones out for people to try out, but no racks on the main floor (at least in the one I go to). Also their all-glass design is stunning to look at, and walk by. When you walk into any other electronics store, it's almost always too crowded with racks and products, but you don't get that in Apple stores. I hope MS takes a similar approach.

ai4281

Comments on Microsoft gets serious about retail stores with exec hire

ms thinks everyone is sucker?
