They don't have their own OS to push therefore they don't have software engineers, now yes it is true that they can always hire and what not but then again you need engineers that are familiar with the development process, the tools that they're known for using, and all the other goodies and pre-requisites needed to make a spectacular phone. If HTC ever goes out of the hardware business they can easily jump in and start selling a mobile OS because they have over and over again better'd WinMo by a long shot from TouchFlo 3D to a full mask over the OS to make it way more usable and lighter for all.

SneakerFiend

Comments on LG plans Android phone by June, two more by end of year

It needs a keyboard

Keith

Comments on LG plans Android phone by June, two more by end of year

...and a floppy drive

James Barsby

Comments on LG plans Android phone by June, two more by end of year

I liked the part where you tried to compare tactile feedback to old technology like a flopy drive. I was kind of hoping to have an Android phone already. I would have bought the G1, but battery life seems to be so hit or miss that I'd rather not risk it. It seems odd to me that while they release a ton of winmo phones at the conference, there's nothing but talk and rumors about Android. I thought other companies had been working on this for a while. I'd love to see how long the production cycle for a smart phone is and how much lead time they need. That is the way the platform can really grow and it will help expand the number of smartphone users and thus the number of web surfing phones (which is Google's ultimate goal). You can't exactly have all the phones being the highest spec phones or the Android platform wouldn't have room to grow explosively. Google already made it clear the platform wasn't just about making one phone, but multiple types of phones (or even other products) so that includes the cheaper ones.

We will have to make do with some phones we would never buy and just look forward to the ones that we are in the market for.

jake

Comments on LG plans Android phone by June, two more by end of year

Looks like he's trying to blow away the black cotton ball from floating into his mouth.

Andrew

Comments on LG plans Android phone by June, two more by end of year

I've got a real bad feeling that this 'year of the Android' is going to be like 'year of Linux on desktop'.

gsmd

Comments on LG plans Android phone by June, two more by end of year

I didn't know the ShamWOW guy also sold LG products.

Vinhchenzo

Comments on LG plans Android phone by June, two more by end of year

Why does Engadget love to love Android, but can barely bring themselves to say barely anything positive about Microsoft?

So who will be the typical user/consumer of the android phones?
