Combine this expense with mandatory ESRI's ArcPad, and if you are dedicated enough, an AppBuilder to really take advantage of the device, and you probably looking at 3K investment. It's possible to build custom GIS/Survey apps for Trimble GeoXTs/Junos, after all they're just windows mobile devices.
