There are chinese manufacturers building these things by cloning the SSD drive making images off bootlegged copies of Vista, XP and Linux. Last time I was in Shen Zhen, I went to a computer store and i couldn't believe the number of nettops they had.<br><br>If engadget had photo posting, I'd show you pics of it. Or are you implying that the demand for SSD based netbooks are causing people to NOT buy HD models which are clogging up the sales channel? Which, to be honest, I find kind of hard to believe. Most people really wouldn't care - and if they see 160GB vs 8GB 'Hard Drive' for the same price (more or less), I suspect they'll go for the HD.<br><br>However, the article linked to seems to argue the converse.<br><br>So, to sum this up a little less psychotically than the author has it...<br><br>People don't want SSDs yet and all the ones built so far are clogging up the sales channel. To get rid of them, they're lowering the price on the existing stock.<br><br>WHICH IS BAD.. There should be two clear categories, a Netbook meant to be a secondary on the go computer which does not have the full functionality of a laptop (eg bluetooth) and a max weight of 1kg.<br>A second category Netbook (small laptop) , more costly, more features for those who just want a small laptop as their main machine, but still not as expensive as regular laptops.
