I didn't change a thing with my laptop's configuration and suddenly last thursday I started getting BSOD's when my Cisco VPN client would start up. I reloaded it, got all the driver updates, got SP1, had to reinstall my wireless driver due to DHCP not working on any wireless network other than the office's where I reloaded and got updates..... and after all of this I'm still seeing blue screens on occasion with my Cisco VPN client... plus now my PCMCIA-to-serial adapter won't work, and it was fine before.

For the longest time I had the one Vista laptop I knew about that never had a compatibility problem. Some recent update must interfere with my version of the VPN client, but for the longest time I was like "Why are people complaining about Vista? Throw in some extra RAM and it's great!" If anyone cares I've got an HP Compaq6710b and Vista Enterprise edition.

The other people in my office who had Vista problems before me have all moved on to Windows 7 with out problem (except one user BSOD'ed with a thumbdrive with U3 software... that stuff is annoying anyway) so I'm going to make the jump too.

M

Comments on Windows Vista, Server 2008 SP2 officially Release Candidate status, coming Q2 2009

just release Win7 and save us the hassle of dealing with Vista any longer

MemoryDump

Comments on Windows Vista, Server 2008 SP2 officially Release Candidate status, coming Q2 2009

Mark and Josh above seem to know you.

AVG

Comments on Windows Vista, Server 2008 SP2 officially Release Candidate status, coming Q2 2009

We wish we didn't.

Mark Anderson

Comments on Windows Vista, Server 2008 SP2 officially Release Candidate status, coming Q2 2009

Though I am very eagerly waiting for SP2 of Vista, I am reluctant in installing the RC.
