USB is for keyboards, mice, and modems. Intel doesn't want you to remember that. They've pushed it where it doesn't belong and doesn't function all that well, simply to avoid admitting that FireWire was and still is the best option.

They would have been way better off creating and pushing a competent eSATA port, meaning one that SUPPLIES POWER.
