The Xmas special @ Wal-Mart had the 1GB, 160GB HD, WinXP 6-cell battery (over 6.5 hours of surfing) shipping free to the store for $348. My oldest son loaded Office 2007 Ultimate (at the special student price) for $65. None of them have firwire! Firewire and a fast hard drive are among my only requirements for a laptop but Dell and HP are almost the only companies that make them. Apple only gives you two FW ports if you shell out for the 17inch (3000+). I am an audio engineer so maybe I am biased but firewire is so much superior to USB it is not even funny. Firewire hard drives are the most stable on the market and firwire 800 actually fights with eSATA for supremacy (mostly cuz HD's are not fast enough for either interface, but SSD's are gettin faster daily.). But seriously acer and toshiba get two thumbs down for not even offering firewire in most of their models. And where are fast Netbooks I am tired of the idea of lugging around a laptop that weighs ten pounds. Slap a quad-core 8 gigs of ram, an SSD and FW into a dell mini 9 and ill cream my pants.

PS USB sucks, I want FW flash drives now that SSD's are kickin ass.

cjharris13

Comments on Slimmer Acer Aspire One pops up in the FCC

how much more slim can it get :)

Rocky

Comments on Slimmer Acer Aspire One pops up in the FCC

Looks like more tapered, rather than actually slimmer...

Tony C

Comments on Slimmer Acer Aspire One pops up in the FCC

Comparing the thickness (at an angle, so inaccurate) to the rulers in the picture, its under an inch thick, so it actually is thinner.
