I just returned my Mini 1000 to Costco today because it came with a crooked hinge and barely has 2 hours of battery life out of the 3 cell. Gotta love their return policy. It's fully charged now, but I can't tell you how long it's gonna last. It definitely makes the unit heavier, and it sits much higher and at a greater slope on a desk. But if I can get 5 hours+ out of it it's worth it. If I had known that they had an extended battery in the works I would have looked at the 1000 a bit harder. As it stands I'm typing on a new Acer Aspire One 10"er I got Monday. In HP's brilliance they put a 2gb option in the linux version of their mini which doesn't need it. And only 1 GB in the xp version which DOES need it.
