Sprint Treo Pro now finally available, for real this time
After months of delays and at least one false start, the Sprint Treo Pro is finally on sale as promised -- and from what we can tell, Sprint reps are already confusing the Pre and the Pro. Ouch. Nevertheless, we're glad to see this thing make it out into the world -- anyone going to drop the $199?

Oh cool!.... Oh wait.... Sprint. Nevermind.
I'll just stick to my iPhone.
Don't you about you, but I love Sprint.
Great deals to be nabbed if you can get them.
You do realize that the GSM Treo Pro has been out for ages now, right?
I used to be interested in the iPhone, but not any longer. My contract with Verizon is up in June and I plan to switch to Sprint for the Palm Pre. Now that's a phone that excites me.
Thanks for posting about the Treo Pro. I think it looks good.
Speaking of "stick" and "iPhone" why don't you stick your iPhone where the sun don't shine!!!
SPRINT RULES - PALM PRE RULES - FANBOYISM ROOOOLZZ
I would stick my iPhone where the sun don't shine, but then the proximity sensor would turn the screen off before I could hit speakerphone.
Treo pro,.,hmmh what can be said. I mean it looks like a fail, has no appeal or sexiness. I guarantee this , iPhone will outsell it even in the month of April . Consumers aren't stupid they know quality brand they can trust , iPhone is proven n revolutionary. This just another palm, very small keys, screen. I can't wait to read the sales figures on this,,LOL , iPhone out for 2 years n still gonna crush it!!
My friend and brother always sound like crap on their iPhones. Sprints 3g is also much faster than AT&Ts at a cheaper price.
Sprint >>>>>>>> AT&T. Atleast in New York.
Yeah, I just hate paying $15/month for unlimited 3G. Sprint is terrible or something.
""SPRINT RULES""
hahahahhah ... unfortunately you are incorrect .. i am currently with sprint and i cant wait until they go out of business so i can get off this stupid contract. Sprint is the worst service provider ever, not even mentioning their customer support. you go enjoy your palm pre if your network will let you. guarantee you will not be surfing the net at iphone speed with the sprint data network
Treo still alive? No?
superman no here.

If it was VZW, and the Niagra wasn't right around the corner, maybe.
Why would anyone get the Treo if they could wait for the Pre? This is probably one of the worst timings for Palm. Their Pre hype is going to cannibalize this so bad.
In all honesty, I don't think they're losing all that much money on this no matter how it does. HTC makes it and it's Microsoft's OS, so that keeps costs down for them. They also as mentioned didn't intend to start selling it this late.
But the big thing is that they see it as two separate markets for the Pre and the Treo Pro. The Treo Pro is seen as being more enterprise, and the Pre is something that combines personal and business life.
Hey that looks nice....I like it!

I thought it said "Treo Preo" for a sec, then I re-read it
That happens to me all the time!
Me too, now. Thanks a lot, asshat.
yeah, very dumb for sprint to launch this under the shadow of the pre. it would probably do pretty well otherwise.
In fairness, i wouldnt want to be limited to the Pre and Only the Pre...i guess thats why theyre releasing it now. If Blackberry Only made the Storm and didnt bother with a New curve there would be plenty of pissed off people. Id want the pre obviously for the newness factor but otherwise people with old treos might simply want a new one
And besides...some people may want WinMo. Even though the pre's whatsitcalled (WebOS?) UI looks great, it seems to be (IMO) like Ubuntu vs. Windows...some people just know WinMo and want to keep it.
If they want $299 up front (before mail-in-rebate) for the Treo then the Pre might be priced at $399 min.
Nah... this phone isn't designed to compete against the iPhone and draw people to Sprint. The Pre is. They will price the Pre below the iPhone to capture market share and sell as many phone as possible, as quickly as possible. It COULD be $399 out the door, but they'll be giving you a $250 rebate if that's the case.
If Sprint and Palm are both banking on this phone to save them, $149 after rebates sounds about right.
per a sprint mgr.,unoficial. $349 after rebates .,mandatory 99$ monthly plan for 2 years. per palm pre..
@Shank: The reason I don't buy your claim is because they would not require a $99 everything plan. They may very well require either the 450 min/unlimited data/text/nav plan for $69 or the unlimited everything plan for $99 but not just the latter. If you follow this, there are about as many "insider tips from managers" as there are threads on message boards. They may very well charge $250-300 out of the gate but this is competing with Verizon's BB, ATT's iPhone, and TMo's G1 so they will likely keep it in the same range before long.
Also, pre-existing SERO plans can also be transferred over to the Pre (this was confirmed to me by a Sprint executive during a hands-on with the Pre).
I'm waiting for the Pre currently, but I'm going to get this phone while I wait. Who knows, I may end up liking it more than the Pre.
If it was released around the first of the year it likely would have had good sales, but this is just to close to the Pre. It looks like a solid phone and I bet quite a few people would have swapped from their 800W's if they could have pushed it out before all the Pre details broke.
The keyboard is just too small. Kills it for me.
bleh..

If you say it once more, then people will stop making fun of you at school.
shut up troll.
you posted that same thing three times, as a reply to two people.

I don't get why people are so damn stupid that they don't realize Sprint has a variety of Everything Data plans, all of which will work for the Pre and the Treo Pro.
You get 450 anytime minutes and everything else (including nights and weekends at 7) for $70 a month, and 900 anytime minutes and everything else for $90. Try finding an ATT or Verizon plan that comes close.
give ya 100 bucks for it w/o a contract
Ive wanted this phone so bad since the engadget reader meetup........ But Ive been worried since HTC's lineup looks amazing and I dont want to be stuck paying another $4985798347 for another phone...... I need some phone counseling......
when i was pricing my best buy mobile this morning, we actually had it for $199 for a new 2 year and $250 for upgrade
I just signed up with Sprint and got the LG Lotus. I want to do the phone-as-modem and I like WinMo (been using it since 2000), but the Touch Diamond and now the Treo Pro don't give me enough benefit to justify the extra expense.
If I had to choose between the two, though, I would still go with the Touch Diamond, but that's just because I don't like tiny hardware qwerty keyboards (which the LG Lotus has, but it's the cheapest EVDO phone-as-modem).
I hope you're not paying the extra monthly cost for phone-as-modem when you could just do WMwifirouter
It's tempting, but I'm concerned about how much "under the radar" surfing I could do, and what would happen if Sprint found out.
I won't lie, though: Sprint takes such SEXY pictures of its phones. Fisheye lens ftw.
so i was noseying around looking @ what sprint has to say about the TreoPro, but now the BBerry non-nextel Curve is gone. What tha?

Good call on sprint's part to keep its stock of winmo phones up for business users. Yes, the pre looks very interesting, but won't be on the shortlist of corporate nerd phones that are handed out to employees who need to get exchange emails.
This is where Tmobile completely dropped the ball. They haven't had anything worth mentioning for business since the G1 came out.
