"Intel's Centrino 2 processor technology is the backbone in many thin and light concepts like the J3400's innovative design with long battery life."
Cianbro, a construction and service solutions provider, has significantly improved job site productivity with the use of Motion tablet PCs. The company plans to deploy the J3400s at Destiny USA, a first-class destination being built to operate 100 percent free of fossil fuels.
"At Cianbro, we're excited about the advancements Motion has made with the J3400. The new features fit in well with our mobile computing needs," said David Fay, Cianbro's job site technology manager. "The bright screen, ruggedness and integrated camera will help us further improve productivity as we work to enable innovation in the construction industry through advanced technology."
Rugged, Lightweight and Ergonomic Equal All Day Computing
Motion's J3400 offers all of the durability and functionality of a rugged PC, without the extra weight and price associated with traditional fully rugged devices. The tablet PC features a hot-swappable dual battery feature for all day computing performance. Additionally, with its balanced design, integrated shoulder strap attach points, rounded corners and slip-free grip surface, it is easily carried throughout the day.
Motion's unique design and internal frame that protects internal components without adding weight or thickness allows for the J3400's rugged design and light weight. The tablet PC is IP-52 rated and meets MIL-STD-810F specifications – able to withstand a three-foot drop on plywood over concrete as well as the occasional bumps, dust and moisture associated with mobile working environments. A variety of features create a reliable, rugged device:
• 1.8 inch hard disk drive (HDD) that provides extra shock protection
• Shock-mounted display and HDD with DataGuard™, an accelerometer that protects data during drops or other events that could potentially damage the hard drive
• Optional low cost 64GB SSD for extreme shock and vibration protection
Integrated Features and Custom Peripherals Optimize Usability
The J3400's available integrated features improve field productivity while reducing the number of devices that must be carried, while a host of custom-designed peripherals optimize usability:
• 2.0 megapixel camera for seamless, in-the-field documentation

Am I the only one curious enough to ask what SIZE the display is?
Im willing to say about 12 inches since an average pen is about 6 inches.
lol, you actually stuck your dick up to the screen to measure it
"stuck your dick"?
wat a dumb ass
Nice system.
What would sweeten the deal even more would be to slap Windows 7 on this baby somewhere down the line.
^This.
$2490 after tax, If there were ever a list created of ,"guarantedd to fail products". This woudl win number 1,besides nokia 5800 express series.,.,oh n cowon mp3's.
Nah, I'm pretty sure the new iPod Shuffle would win that title easily.
Why don't you "shuffle" off somewhere.
you had me until you said cowon...
shank is my favorite troll ^__________^
I'm guessing you haven't been in a (decent) doctor's office recently.
I've been in plenty, and I've seen more tablets than I can shake a stylus at.
/I know I know, terrible
Not really; you're probably not the target market so you opinion doesn't matter anyway. But, Motion has been around for a long time. I've had a Motion M1400 for years now and I absolutely love it - perfect for notes in college. Yes, their tablets are very expensive, but as the adage goes, "you get what you pay for."
And they used Motion tablets in Stargate Atlantis :-)
Was at apple store earlier.,guy said that new shuffle definitely was selling.,
Kellogs buying them all up to include as giveaways inside of cereal boxes or something?
You're an idiot, then.
I have to admit its a nice innovative solution. Rugged tablet, outdoor screen, a lot of power and a dual2core cpu.
Its worth 2000$.
Instead of having two batteries, why not just have one big battery?
So you can recharge the 1st battery while using the tablet on the 2nd....
I think it has to do with being able to hot swap the batteries, one can stay in while replacing the other. Also, redundancy.
i mean they have their heads in the right place with this...it jus needs to be 1 quarter of the price an they got something
you total arse
Am I silly to wonder why, instead of having two batteries, we don't just get one big one? Anyhow this thing is AWESOME! I'll rush out and get one asap!
Like mentioned above, probably because you can hot-swap batteries. And the docking station has a spot to charge a third battery so if you get that, that makes it easy too.
Gottabemobile.com has some really nice overview videos of this already too. Rob there has had one for a little while and it sounds like he's really impressed.
Before we bash this, guys, remember this is a mighty powerful slate tablet.
Decently specced Tablet PCs are hard to come by at this price, let alone slates. (X61T anyone?)
Put a kickstand ala Nokia N96, couple it with a DiNovo Edge and you have a winner. Slightly pricey, yes, but probably not for those within the intended market and definitely competitive against other tablets.
Obviously you haven't seen the attachable keyboard that is an option for this.

@Joe
Why yes, I haven't. Thanks for the link! And damn, that is some pricey stuff.
@Joe H
Dude, that's a freaking cool looking keyboard dock!.
Agreed entirely. It's too expensive for my tastes, and I already have a convertible tablet, but this looks really sweet and if I had the money I'd definitely be interested.
I wanna see some laptops with multiple batteries too.
Then look at business class machines. EG Dell Latitude; you can swap the CD-Rom for a battery instead.
I never understood the allure of Tablet PC's until I tried the Windows 7 version. Now that is nice... All previous versions seemed rough around the edges and you could definitely see the progression from Windows XP version to 7. And I got a dirt cheap HP tablet with a really nice active digitizer for only $600 (used of course, but didn't want to spend $1000+) with bluetooth, remote control, 4GB of RAM, fingerprint reader, webcam, etc etc. I like how I can rest my hand on the screen and write and not have the computer confused on whether i want to touch the screen or write. and the finger touch sensitivity is great for when i don't feel like using the stylus.
I wanna see some laptops with multiple batteries too.
Vait a meenit, zis haz no multi touch
Supposedly, Motion is currently working on a capacitive touch version, presumably using Wacom's upcoming version of it.
$2000? Gimme my $300 TC1100 anyday. Definitely worth waiting til W7 is on these though if you want to buy one
A7
this is soooooooooo cool! i want one of these babys!
