As mentioned you might have to fiddle with your OS's sensitivity adjustments and as far as I know Razer provides nothing to help you in Linux (I think they have something for Mac now). The Mamba's a bit steep, especially given that I don't find my Death Adder lacking, and I don't find a wireless mouse terribly compelling, unless I'm truly operating remotely, and in which case, I'm probably not gaming (wireless mighty mouse in this case, which is *horrible* for gaming, though doesn't lag like other BT mice I've tried).

Also, as a gamer, one's choices are relatively limited in Linux, but WoW runs wonderfully in Wine (easily on par with OS X, I've never tried it in windows), UT2k4 and some other slightly dated FPSes are native and run great (UT3 is supposedly still coming to Linux according to Ryan Gordon). Source runs pretty well in Wine, though I bootcamp my MBP instead of messing with it in Linux. There are also some fairly high-quality open source games, like Warzone 2100, Spring (a general RTS platform), and the entire lineage of Cube engine games (Saurbraten, et al). So if the games you want to play are already in Linux, then you can be a Linux gamer, otherwise, get ready to dual-boot.

Nule

Comments on

Uhm, where is this lag with BT mice you experience? I have a Microsoft [insert bland Microsoft mouse name here] BT Mouse, and there is zero lag as well. Cost like $50. The Logitech one I have at work is also BT, and also has zero lag. It worked awesome for about two days under Vista, then I upgraded to the Windows 7 beta and it would never connect again.

I exchanged the mouse for a cheapo off-brand one. This one connected, but would lose connection completely for about 20 seconds once every 5-10 minutes.

I exchanged that one for a nice expensive Logitech one and it had an identical issue. That was proof that the problem lied with my system, most likely an incompatible driver for my internal BT receiver under 64-bit Windows. I'm using a logitech right now at work, and although I'm sure there is lag (any input device for any of ha measureable lag, even wired peripherals), it's definitely not noticeable, and I'm sure I could still pwn noobs with it. I'm one of the few that realizes Killzone 2's horrendous input lag and got lynched for it ("it's a design decision! Blah!" my ass). I know full well what input lag is, and this BT mouse, as well ad the Microsoft one I have at home, have no noticeable input lag compared to my old wired.

There is one possibility: wireless mice have power save features, where it goes into a sleep mode after a certain time having not moved it.
