It should make little difference in sales for Apple.  The theory of billions of potential users is overblown.  If two million people in China buy an iPhone I'd be surprised.  Unless Apple builds a special low cost model with the features that Chinese users want, they might as well just forget about penetrating the Chinese market. There's going to be such a buildup of rumors of included features that you might as well be waiting for a total transformation of the whole mobile industry around just one handset.  I'm not saying it's true, I'm just saying the hype will continue to build in intensity until the iPhone 3.0 is officially announced.
