I bought the 1000HE a few weeks ago and "specs" were really not a huge issue. I have a desktop that's pretty powerful, and a decent laptop as well. To tell you the truth, battery life was the #1 issue for me when looking for a netbook. The 1000HE has been able to play any of the videos I've thrown at it - not a surprise given the screen resolution. The netbook does everything I want it to, which is limited to browsing the internet, watching some videos and listening to music. At some point in the future, when netbooks have higher resolution screens "specs" might be more important, but at this point those things will just negatively impact battery life without providing any additional utility (I don't need it to do more).

Worst thing that could happen when I use my netbook is if I run out of juice. If I plan to work plugged in, I'll just bring a notebook. I want enough battery life in my netbook that I don't need to think about it at all - except to maybe plug it in each evening.

For this Samsung, I can't think see an advantage over the 1000HE, but maybe it has a nicer keyboard or something. Can't say without touching it.

Stymie

Comments on Samsung posts N110 product page, pre-orders get going

Why are the F7 and F8 keys highlighted in blue?

Soulsaber

Comments on Samsung posts N110 product page, pre-orders get going

In response to 1gb max, it's actually upgradable to 2gb RAM and its a mistake on the samsung website. The same mistake was made for the NC-10 netbook and they eventually fixed it. Laptop mag who did the review has on its website it is upgradable so I wouldn't put too much stock to the 1gb max because it makes 0 sense for samsung to do that.

Now, I know a lot of people jumped on the EEE 1000HE. I'm really loving this N110 because it looks a hell of a lot better than the 1000HE and its battery life is better and it seems the system performance is the same. But it does cost a little more so WHICH ONE SHOULD I BUY???

Pros of samsung: battery, brand name, looks, size, weight
Pros of 1000HE: PRICE, supposedly better processor (which by tests doesn't seem like it does much more than the N270), ability to overclock/powersaver.

Opinions!!

Rbk

Comments on Samsung posts N110 product page, pre-orders get going

oh also the color of the 1000HE is a bonus. Actually it is upgradeable, it's just there's a sticker on the memory saying "warranty void if seal if broken", but the memory can be easily removed without breaking the seal.

So I guess N110 would be the same situation, the memory should be upgradeable but Samsung will deny it. We shall see when someone actually bought the retail version and write a review about it.

P.S. The store here also said that N110-KA01 doesn't have built-in bluetooth support, is that true?

tonyunreal

Comments on Samsung posts N110 product page, pre-orders get going

After my experience with the Dell mini 9, the netbook criteria for me is as follows

- must be under 400USD (~550AUD)
- must hackintosh well (everything working - BT, 3G, sleep etc.)
- must have 3G built in

Those of you moaning about ion, dual core, 720p screens are missing the point and you'd be better off with a 600-800USD fully fledged laptop, say 13.3inch wide.
