I know plenty of people that probably couldn't get a decent pre-packaged NAS functioning even if they already had a decent network set up with an open port and DHCP properly configured, which, by the way, many don't.

I'd probably not buy one, but having used Time Machine before, I can say unequivocally that there is nothing simpler on the market, and it seems to be quite reliable. This is what most people want. Most people want to do work with their computer, not work on their computer, and based on Apple's recent financials, it seems to me that a great many people are willing to pay for it.

CraigJ

Comments on 2TB Time Capsule in the works?

@ CraigJ

Unless the said "average user" is a hot chick who exploits said engadget user's tech prowess :(

DirtyVegas

Comments on 2TB Time Capsule in the works?

Well, of course.

CraigJ

Comments on 2TB Time Capsule in the works?

2TB is laughable. Plus the new MediaSamrt machines (ex-48x series) have the ability to do Mac backup using some sort of Time Machine like software.
