It would completely throw off the purpose of this device.  Plus I hardly use my optical drive on a regular day, in fact I have removed mine from my laptop to save weight. They increase the weight, are susceptible to failure, make a lot of noise, and are infrequently used. Just use an external optical drive to load programs.
