Now Apple already supports cam video on Macs with iSight cameras and Photobooth/iChat. They have broad support for video editing with iMovie, Final Cut Express and Final Cut Pro. You're not using these to create works of art, you're taking quick snaps with your friends in front of a bar.<br><br>What the camera desperately needs is a macro mode - and from the rumours we might actually get this. There are bajillions of possibilities for features when you can begin imaging printed things, such as barcodes or text... I tried doing a QR code app on iPhone, but the lack of close-range focus killed it. The fact also remains that people bought the iPhone in record numbers because it had features that no other smartphones had at the time:<br><br>MULTI-TOUCH<br>A FULL INTERNET HTML browser, instead of a WAP browser.<br>Visual Voicemail<br>An App Store<br>And a bunch of other things I'm too lazy to write.<br><br><br><br>I like how John Gruber at Daringfireball.net explains Apple's approach.<br><br>"If there’s a formula to Apple’s success over the past 10 years, that’s it. Start with something simple and build it, grow it, improve it, steadily over time. Evolve it. The iPhone exemplifies this strategy. There’s a long list of features many experts and pundits claimed the original 1.0 iPhone needed but lacked. Ends up it didn’t need any of them. Nice to have is not the same thing as necessary. But things the iPhone did have, which other phones lacked, truly were necessary in terms of providing the sort of great leap forward in the overall experience that Apple was shooting for."<br><br><br>That's all that needs to be said about the issue. It was their first attempt to create a mobile phone. Search *lite* on <a href="http://appshopper.com/" rel="nofollow">http://appshopper.com/</a> and you will find almost 3000 free and lite apps.<br>32800-3491-3000= around 26000-27000 apps<br>2) It's the first phone to have over 30,000 apps??? Palm has already over 32000 *real* apps (www.palmgear.com)<br>3) On Windows Mobile, Palm etc. you can also use Java, emulators, etc. for more apps. I hate to agree with P.A.C. Man, because fanboyism is so unattractive (coming from a long-time Mac-centric person...)<br><br>BUT, half the replies to tell PACMan to STFU actually use the quotes he posted that Anti-Apple people use (should've had features, "dumb phone", "finally has", etc...)  I'm hoping it is intentional irony and not just ignoring the fact that someone most people don't like has called you out, and you reply by responding in the way the caller-outer has predicted.<br><br>Predicting hardware upgrades and software updates from a company that does both of these on a regular, consistent basis (iPhones in June, Pro stuff at WWDC, iPods in September....)  is not news, it's just paying attention.  <br><br>Related:  I predict new iPods this fall.
