My ancient Canon G1 (a 3MP point-n-shoot) had the typical side-articulating display, and it was very useful for taking shots with the camera held above my head to get a high view of a crowd. With the screen hinged at the bottom, the camera has the most flexibility to the sides, which seems less useful.

Any ideas why the bottom hinge might be better?

Ethan

Comments on Nikon D5000 official pics leak out

the reason they have it on the bottom is that the side articulating displays make it so they can't put buttons on the left of it.

matt

Comments on Nikon D5000 official pics leak out

The problem with this camera is that it is a Nikon. Canon is going to release the T1i with the 1080p HD movie capture, 15MP sensor, and as well as built-in focus motor. Plus, Canon is popular among professional photographers with its line of high quality of "L" lenses (which stands for Luxury). The Nikkor lenses does not have a professional designation hence it is difficult to judge whether you're buying a high quality lens. There is a reason why professionals choose Canon. Nikon is targeting more towards the consumer/prosumer crowd.

Saad Rabies

Comments on Nikon D5000 official pics leak out

yeah, because no professional photographers shoot Nikon.

typical uninformed fanboy fail comment.

CraigJ

Comments on Nikon D5000 official pics leak out

yeah.. although you might tend to see more canon cameras at sporting events becasue of their huge white lenses, i'd say nikon is still right up there. If Canon can do 1080 30p from their CMOS sensor then it is clear proof that CMOS sensor technologies are not stopping them, the 5DII's RS skew is also much less than the D90 but not as good as dedicated Pro video cameras like an EX1/3 so its not like the D90 is all we should expect from DMovie into the future.

I converted my D90 to IR, the video mode was next to useless to me for my video production.
