That Keyboard belongs on my Gateway 2000 Solo!!! I still have the machine and it looks almost the same. All in all, wish they could have made it look nicer but I guess that's the compromise in terms of bulk for being able to handle the variety of components that one can put in as advertised.

2. What nobody seems to have realized is that it lacks an optical drive. Since it has no basic OS even, this means that to install your own choice of OS, you'd need an optical drive since you can't even install via USB as yet. This makes for a pretty expensive proposition since let's face it, nowadays most people don't keep an ext. CD-Drive, esp. not this netbook's target market, and it's unnecessary for netbooks since most of it is all USB anyway. Not like you're about to load up games etc. that require discs often so why invest in one for a single use?

rahuld223

Comments on OCZ's Neutrino netbook reviewed, deemed totally handy and easy to use

Interesting idea, but still too expensive. Just before posting this, I doublechecked a few-days-old Lenovo deal to make sure it was still valid as of now: You can get an S10 Ideapad, 10.2" screen, 1GB memory, 160GB hard drive, XP Home, 3 cell battery, free shipping - $307. Upgrade to a 6-cell battery - $351.

When you can get a fully-loaded Lenovo at those prices (and maybe add a few bucks for another 1GB memory), and you can get different but similarly attractive deals from Dell and others, then $269 for this fairly bare-boned machine is too much.

I'd also be concerned about customer support. Not that the big mfrs are such great shakes, but I have a feeling OCZ is a company that is used to dealing with customers who are quite proficient and knowledgeable about hardware, and there may be a bit of a mutual culture shock if they start getting panicked calls from customers who are, not to mince words, noobs who bought the Neutrino because they thought they could go DIY to save some bucks.

Good concept but too costly for now, the design is very "meh" compared to other machines you can get for what you'll pay for this by the time you're done, and I'd be wary of expecting a lot of handholding from customer support.

Mrs Calabash

Comments on OCZ's Neutrino netbook reviewed, deemed totally handy and easy to use

The 60GB SSD is almost $200 all by itself.

BigD145

Comments on OCZ's Neutrino netbook reviewed, deemed totally handy and easy to use

Way too costly.
