Optical zoom 35mm equivilent of 28mm - 450mm (or 505mm if you downgrade to 3 megapixel shots) woot! And yes, I know, it can't fit in your pocket but hell it's still damn small for all its power and $250 price tag...

As to why get one of these over a camera with video capabilities, for me it was the simplicity. I’m new to video cameras. With the Flip software all I do is plug it in and up comes the video I just took, click one button and it uploads to my youtube. IT took all of thirty seconds to get that video up. It also very easy to use a total of three buttons and a directional arrow keys. The only thing its lacking is a still picture mode, you have to do a screen capture in the software to get stills.
