You can open camcorder, hit a button and be in camera.

Camera:
The shutter is a little slow but you don't need to swipe between photos. That's something another phone chose to do, it's not a standard, the arrows aren't some broken way to navigate. They don't have to copy everything iPhone does.

Browser:
It's nice that Skyfire has been doing that, now the G1 does that. Skyfire also has flash and can play websites like Hulu and your iPhone, which you're using as a standard, can't. So, you can't have everything.
And I don't know what you're complaining about, the scrolling looked very smooth, even before the website was even loaded. On the iPhone you see that white and grey checkered grid when scrolling and then the page appears a second after the checkered grid, I didn't see that in this video. I'd say scrolling is better than the iPhone.

Overall:
Multitouch isn't a standard. You might as well say "no iPod is disappointing." The speed seemed great, I don't get why you'll excuse an app taking 5 to 10 seconds to open on the iPhone but you have a problem with the G1's speeds which were pretty good.

You seem very biased, and that's fine, it's just that a lot of your complaints seem unfounded or stem from you wanting this to be an iPhone. How is scrolling on an iPhone better when you see a checkerboard as you scroll the screen? Speed on G1 is much faster than iPhone, opening apps are quick and responsive, and almost instant (due to Androids ability to multitask). And I like the new cosmetic animations. Video recording on most phones aren't great, it wasn't a feature that sold me on the phone in the first place, but its nice to see a native app, opposed to iPhone where it has to be jailbroken to get some comparitively worse recording.

Checkmate

Comments on Video: Android 1.5 'Cupcake' on-screen keyboard and camcorder action

Overall iPhone is still better than this.

There needs to be a major update for this to even compete with apple.

Khoa211

Comments on Video: Android 1.5 'Cupcake' on-screen keyboard and camcorder action

Overall you dont know what you're talking about.
I got rid of my iPhone 3G after a week of disappointments and now it's more than 7 months that I happily use my touchHD and my Samsung Omnia.
I look forward to change at least one of them with a Nokia N97 or a new Toshiba TG01, or HTC superStar or Thoth, but surely this time I'm gonna stay away from Apple 's overpriced and underperforming gear.

KilgoreTrout

Comments on Video: Android 1.5 'Cupcake' on-screen keyboard and camcorder action

Can you explain how so????

iDavey

Comments on Video: Android 1.5 'Cupcake' on-screen keyboard and camcorder action

LOL @ Rapidshare!!!

youanden

Comments on Video: Android 1.5 'Cupcake' on-screen keyboard and camcorder action

Hey, there are legitimate uses.

Just this morning a new client linked me to a requirements doc they had shared on RS.
