Apple is sometimes late to the party (think GUI, WiFi, MP3 players, mobile phones...) The difference is, by not being first, they take take the time to do it right. If the iPhone came out in 2002 or the iPod in 1997, they would have failed miserably. Apple's made an empire out of watching the marketplace, finding out what people want, using hype and critical comments of other companies to create a need, and then landing a product that blows people away.

It's not the first guy at the party that goes home with the girl, it's the cool kid that shows up fashionably late.

jimmy

Comments on Video iPhone to feature iMovie App?

@Jon the phone i bought in 2005 had video editing so that's nothing new either

G

Comments on Video iPhone to feature iMovie App?

Why are there so many "somebody else did it already" posts? As was pointed out above, when you have a thicker (bulkier, heavier) phone, there is more room for better optics. And since it's a PHONE and not a camera, the quality of the camera should not be the motivation for the phone. Right?

Saying its hands down the worst camera experience is pretty ignorant. There are a lot of other "smartphones" with 2MP cameras, and the user interface issues on those cameras are quite a bit worse. Quality aside, the iPhone camera is still one of the simplest to operate. One button to camera, one button to shoot. Calling that the worst camera experience is really ignoring how bad it is on so many other phones.

The only people that have to get their act together is everybody following in Apple's footsteps regarding interface and design.
