I could see this type of device taking a bite out of the netbook market - for most people they don't do a lot of typing, so what's the point of wasting all that space on a keyboard? As long as it's powerful enough to run the most basic of apps and of course run a good browser these type of device should be very hot... and the price of this one is great.

Unfortunately I don't see this particular device being fast enough, but hopefully competitors see this and also enter this market with better products.

(Hey Apple, are you seeing this?! I think a tablet PC is a perfect evolution of that technology... when Apple came out with the Newton, the technology was way underdeveloped and no consumers knew what to think of the product.

(and this is coming from someone that really is no fan of touchscreens - I personally think the lack of tactile feedback makes using a touchscreen awful, but for surfing the internets, I think it's the bestest way to go)

Hazdaz

Comments on SmartQ 7 Internet Tablet spotted in the wild, priced

Megahertz?

Heck, the iPhone isn't much faster than that, and yet I want one.

Michael Leung

Comments on SmartQ 7 Internet Tablet spotted in the wild, priced

Anyone know where I can find a list of MIDs like these in America? Looked at those Panasonic and Alpine motorized in-dash DVD players but their touchscreen responsive-ness and price were just horrible. So I dove into the whole Internet media and MID market and right now Archos's 5 &7 series Internet-Media Tablets are the best cuz they support almost all the good file formats/codecs especially h.264 and FLAC and I wanna output such things [along with music videos] to 2 headrest monitors in the back seats. Archos has a couple docks with video [S-Video/Component/HDMI] out capabilities but I also want to control the volume and next/previous track buttons on the steering wheel. How the HELL would I go about doing this? I know Bluetooth A2DP has a profile where u can control playback with a remote but I'm not 2 sure. I definitely wanna go with a setup like this cuz not only can I use the Archos as a GPS and Audio/Video source in the car, but I can use it outta the car as an Internet Media Tablet. Is there any other setup you guys have in your car? Should I wait for some other MID's like such to come into the mainstream market or what? Lemme know-Thanks.

rx8_racing57

Comments on SmartQ 7 Internet Tablet spotted in the wild, priced

What OS is it running on???

Me4u2

Comments on SmartQ 7 Internet Tablet spotted in the wild, priced

If its like the Smartq 5 its going to have Ubuntu.

Brdystyls

Comments on SmartQ 7 Internet Tablet spotted in the wild, priced

Ubunut? could be useful.

Al

Comments on SmartQ 7 Internet Tablet spotted in the wild, priced

it is same as the Q5 , onlt different screen size
same hardware and system
more pictures on http://www.jiongtang.com/blog/digital-product/smartq7-unboxing-picturewill-you-buy-it/
english language firmware by maemo :http://www.jiongtang.com/blog/digital-product/smartq5-english-version-firmware-beta/

leon85113

Comments on SmartQ 7 Internet Tablet spotted in the wild, priced

Also featuring a more capacitious battery last time i checked.

kingu

Comments on SmartQ 7 Internet Tablet spotted in the wild, priced

SHUT UP!

BOGRASH

Comments on SmartQ 7 Internet Tablet spotted in the wild, priced

I think it'd be cool just to have a small screen that you can carry around to write notes in like a notebook.
