Alienware prepping "Allpowerful" laptop for next month
When it's not busy perpetrating negative stereotypes about alien cranium sizes, Dell's Alienware has been known to throw together a product teaser now and then. This latest one points to 20 days in the future, when Alienware will presumably unveil a "new gaming laptop & computer" (according to the header) dubbed "Allpowerful." Seems a little pretentious, sure, but we wouldn't expect anything less. We'll see y'all in June.

Holy crap...something new??
Wait, all their laptops are amazing. I have an Area 51, and it is overkill
Whatever it is, I'm sure it's gonna be $1000-$2000 overpriced
And will also, of course, feature all of the colored lights and Alien "technology" inspired case designs that will bring flocks of beautiful women wherever you choose to display it.
@AVG
it's stupid comments like that have inspired me to switch to AVIRA antivirus.
Can you read minds? I also used to use AVG and have now switched to Avira. This is funny
How does Avira compare with AVG?
Haven't had any major problems with AVG really, but I'm always scouting for better software.
Whatever it is, you'll be able to out-game it with a $500 machine in 18 months time.
Me too, i would like to know which is better and why?.
What ever it is, im pretty sure its going to be butt ugly...
@ Game_playa
Just like an Apple product!.. Right?
Yes, because they should have given my my computer for free...
@Joseph
You're right. Alienwares are stylish and hip.
cant wait! i always like to customize my own and see how much it comes up to! although it probably wont beat the mac pro in price.
well said.. i lost my interest in tracking alienware products..its too much out of 95% of people's reach..is that why its "alien" ware..
I've had it with gaming laptops. They're all the pain of a huge laptop and none of the upgradeability or cool factor of a normal desktop, and they have a huge price premium to boot. I'm getting rid of my XPS M1730.
i always thought your ava was a guy with a tie sitting down with his head low all depressed like... now seeing it in un-reply size its actually something quite disturbing................
Yeah, the phrase "Jack of all trades, master of none" comes to mind with my laptop. Sure, it's fast. But it can't quite handle Crysis like a full desktop, yet at the same time, its battery doesn't match up to more traditional laptops...
You're getting rid of your massive luggable? It's an icon though! How will people at the coffee shop know to pay you homage without it?
I got 100 bucks. You interested?
Well.. look at it this way. You could have an awesome desktop and a low end laptop or netbook fo the price of a gaming laptop... or you could have a nearly awesome dekstop replacement that is 90% as good as that desktop and 290% better than that low end laptop or netbook. And either option costs the same amount.
I just got a desktop replacement gaming laptop. First laptop ever, first time I've been without a desktop. I'm torn whether I made the right choice or if I should have built a new desktop instead. It plays Crysis on high, but I haven't even taken it out of the house yet -_-
Another thing too is they say that all these parts that are supposed upgradable, you can't even find parts to match or newer parts that are compatible.
Only way I'm considering this is if it's got a multitouch 120 Hz screen....
Other than that, gaming desktop FTW.
Did they hire Ben Heck and they're making a 360 laptop?
I think this guy is using it in this James Bond fan movie:

They don't translate the headline when you roll over it, but it says "Let Armageddon Begin"
It was fun translating it. I wish it didn't translate the rest when you rolled over it. Too easy...
You are just the kind of ridiculously huge nerdass that Alienware is hoping to sell this to.
you, sir... are a genius.
Translate? Dude, it's just a different font...
ok, so its going to be an i7 laptop. how back-breakingly awesomely un-portable.
i so would :(
Great. They've crammed another machine full of the latest hardware to make it super powerful. And they're making it really expensive. And ugly as an elephants arse. What's there to anticipate?
Is that like the "allspark" ?
Its either going to be based around the Nvidia GTX260M/280M, or else a refresh of the Ati-based M17 (with HD4850 or 4870).
Hopefully they'll get rid of that sh1tty M15x also, that has been a joke of a laptop, with the overheating and falling-apart issues.
Gaming laptops all suck a huge one.
Give me an option for the nVidia's GTX 260M / GTX 280M!
So long as it is not four feet thick and weighs 3 tons, im ok with it. :)
Yet another plavitch from the masters of the genre.
very nice use of plavitch. I truly think the old motorola macs were the original masters of the genre... "but our single, proprietary test shows they're 38% faster in these two cherry-picked filter runs in PS than any mortal pc .... "
The stuff they sell now is plenty powerful. How about "Allcheaperthanyournewbornchild"
ok I learn something new today... Dell owns Alienware.....
Exactly what i thought when i read this article
I like the word omnipotent better..
+1
Alienware is so 2003
Allyourbase.
Are belong to us. Ah hah haha ha.
Mobile Quad Core i7
aren't i7's like 6 or 8 cores...?
No, they are quad-core processors but a six core version is to come out in late 2009 or early 2010.
I7s have 4 physical cores, but they have 8 logical cores that look and perform like 8 cores to the operating system.
Did they ever fix those issues with the m15x? You know: Over heating, Cracked Case, CPU scaled down power?, Screen Hinge breaking, wobbly screen.
http://www.engadget.com/2008/03/12/alienware-area-51-m15x-owners-outraged-by-overheating-cracking
Its kind of tough to be excited about any thing from Alienware.
