They send you a Pre and six months service.
The Pre is a loan, you do not get to keep it.
After six months they decide if they want to keep you or end your participation in the program. If they terminate you, you give the Pre back and now have to buy your own Pre anyway.

So, you're getting a separate line and the burden of having to impress Palm by "real reviewing" via Twittering, Blogging, Facebooking, Youtubing, and forum-ing about the Pre to be kept on board, since that is the point. All for a loan phone on a seperate line. You'll be paying for your existing service no matter what, Palm isn't going to pay to cancel your existing plan.

Palm Pre was announced almost half a year ago. It was in a nearly finished form and everyone who handled it confirmed this. Here we are, half a year from the announcement, and we're hearing news of "real reviewer" units.... in my opinion (what for it), this was too much of a delay, given how this phone will be released head to head with many high-end products, including a much more capable product in the form of the Tegra chip. And hence, this post is related to the headers news.

However, if there is a certain degree of relativity that all replies to a story should not streer far from, well, in this sick mind of yours, let me know. Maybe you can write a paper about it.

If you think Tegra should be described as "silly", well, it's your right.
