The body around it does not matter. I would wait a bit. People once cornered Olympus reps during an expo, who pretty much admitted that their official pricing is more of PR, than any recommendation to retailers. (*)<br><br>Apparently Olympus marketing sets prices to pitch their cameras against competing' offerings. Oly's E-3 list price is literally the same as of Canon 5D, but you can find former literally twice cheaper than later. I got E-520 double lens kit for 650€ two weeks after release, while official price is still 800€.<br><br>Official Olympus prices should be simply ignored. Not to mention the bayer blurring and smoothing over of every other 3rd photosite - digital shot still lack fine detail. That's not true. Every site is compromised on a bayer sensor.<br><br>Digital has plenty of detail. Yes, if you zoom in pixel for pixel you notice a lack of detail. But given that you can get a digital camera with 25 million pixels, you don't zoom in 1:1 very often. Because there are two distinct "resolutions" in an image. Chroma and Luminosity. While the chroma resolution is sampled from the three separate colors, each pixel contributes more to the Luminosity. This is similar in fact to how the human eye works. <br><br><br>"Oh well - keep buying this junk if you like and wasting money. Your photo's will still suck."<br>Yup. I love my agfa Isolette.  1956.  Clean images in 120 glory!<br><br>Pro photographers as in press and sport?  Of course!  They demanded 135 before - so of course they demand and need digital.  The rest of us don't need it and film is just as convenient and far more detailed and has such a huge dynamic range benefit too.<br><br>You want to sell a 1 metre x 1 metre print that will hang on a wall - then no - those photogs don't use digital.  I had an exhibition last year and I sold about 20 shots and it is not even my job.  Had I shot digital and made the same large prints - I doubt as many would have been sold.  In fact I am sure of it, because I could not blow up the digital ones I had and print them as large.  But the film ones through an enlarger onto real silver halide paper. Olympus has stated quite rightly that we have passed the point where increasing megapixels gives better pictures. In the compact class we are at 12M now, which is excessive for the lens. Put any two shots up side by side and it is night and day.  Much like plasma vs LCD.  But people still buy LCD and people will still waste money on digital and mistake the processed edge contrast that is added for "sharpness" and the world goes on.<br><br>Hey I even hear that people in the west still think that they will have a job in tech in the future too!  Maybe that is why engadget is so up for the KIRF crap - fear.  Oh and that Obama will change everything. There's the characteristic blurring (or demosaic ing, as they call it) of colors...<br><br>What would you suggest?   Foveon?  Well as it is: Foveon is pretty low resolution...<br><br>the next best thing is a $20k sensor...<br><br>So, if this is just a digital camera bash, then you've come to the wrong place...  Cause you ain't gonna convince anyone to listen to pops and clicks of your record collection either... As you know, Olympus is not the leader in professional photography so with a reputation like that, I'd rather suggest you get Canon's Powershot G10. Canon has always been the leader in professional photography. The G10 has all the manual controls and 14.7 Megapixels (!) of resolution which should make your images vibrant and natural. Plus, it has image stabilizer which counteracts camerashake. The G10 has nothing to offer over the G9 except extra megapixels. Extra megapixels are the last thing you need on a pinhead sized sensor like this.The G10 is nothing but a glorified, overpriced point and shoot. It doesn't do anything that a camera half the price won't do. <br><br>Pretty much all the Canon's used to have full manual controls. Now they are eliminating this, and their line is now mostly dumbed down junk. There is not a single Canon I would buy if my Powershot A650 died. <br><br>I am definitely in the market for a micro 4/3's system. I want a camera with a larger sensor and less noise. I like the Panasonic GH1, but it's not exactly pocketable. And it's pricey. The Olympus micro 4/3's interests me because it's so much smaller.<br><br>There is indeed a market for a camera like this. It can rival a big, clunky, heavy, noisy DSLR in image quality, yet be small enough to fit in a pocket and go everywhere with you. I barely notice improvements on my Dad's 40D over my 20D and yet they brought out the 50D with too many pixels for the APS-C to handle it properly and reports aren't so good. Canon really don't need to chase the mega-pixel race. In fact it is only a tiny bit smaller the so called "APS-C" sensors found in SIgma dSLRs and the DP series.<br><br>I should also point out that the crop factor is a bit deceptive. It's 2x based on the diagonal of a 135 frame. The problem is that  Olympus uses a different aspect ratio.
